consumers. Responsibilities: POSITION SUMMARY: This position has
the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as
well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures
that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food
Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an
effort to reduce product and process variability. Ensures
regulatory Compliance. Working closely with the management team,
this position also ensures that all workers in the plant are not
only following regulation and guidelines, but are working in a safe
work environment. It is the incumbents responsibility to make sure
all regulations are intact and compliance is maintained at all
times. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Full responsibility and oversight of the Safety and Risk
Management process at the site level.
- Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy
workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and
procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and
tasks. Insures regulatory compliance.
- Provides safety training guidelines for company operations by
reviewing current OSHA regulations and designing effective training
programs to meet compliance requirements.
- Organizes and schedules training sessions and provides on-site
safety training for employees.
- Performs on-site inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and
coordinates IH services such as noise levels, equipment and air
quality, etc.
- Evaluates and provides guidelines on safety equipment and
supplies according to ANSI standard.
- Maintains high level of safety awareness and insures
consistency of safety program implementation by providing
up-to-date information on all related safety matters to the
management team and continuously working with supervisors and
managers to effectively handle safety-related issues.
- Schedules meetings and organizes events to provide information
regarding workplace safety issues to employees and managerial
personnel.
- Supports the work of all plant Safety teams by providing
training and resources.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA standards by keeping up-to-date
with safety regulations and reviewing accident investigation
reports and evaluating current procedures for improvement of safety
projects.
- Applies current laws and regulations in the inspection of
company safety protocols.
- Minimizes workers compensation cost by supervising the case
files of work-related injuries.
- Formulates and implements follow up procedures for improvement
of safety protocols.
- Monitors active WC files and insures best possible resolution
of the WC claims.
- Maintains training records and safety reports.
- Participates in meetings with safety committees to recommend
corrective actions to management regarding workplace safety
procedures, perform facility audits, and discuss future safety
projects.
- Prepares meeting agendas and minutes for distribution to
appropriate sources.
- Maintains departmental budget by monitoring departmental
expenditures.
- Supports local and corporate teams as it relates to training
and development.
- Ensures compliance with PSM and Risk Management Plan (RMP) and
all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Reviews system-altering processes prior to implementation.
- Organizes and provides PSM-mandated training to all applicable
associates and contractors.
- Reviews and assists with Management of Change (MOC),
Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and Process Hazards Analysis
(PHA).
- Reviews all refrigeration action plans for ammonia-related
projects to ensure compliance and viability with the PSM
program.
- Organizes and provides leadership concerning all 14 elements of
PSM by reading and reviewing mechanical and electrical drawings,
procedures, and ammonia-related programs and policies.
- Serves as primary respondent in the event of any PSM audit
activity.
- Actively participates in refrigeration team activities and
programs, and works to improve skills by staying abreast of current
technologies.
- Schedules refrigeration associates for PSM training and
Confined Space, HAZMAT, and Hot Work training programs.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary
conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to
management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect
food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: JOB
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:Bachelors degree or equivalent combination
of education, training and/or experience.COMMUNICATIONSKILLS:In
order to promote a manufacturing environment that is safe and
efficient for both personnel and food, the ability to effectively
communicate in basic English (both verbal and written) is required.
This includes the ability to speak, read and comprehend safety
instructions, rules and warnings for self and others in both normal
and emergency situations. LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze,
and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial
reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory
agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write
speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed
style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top
management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units
of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and
interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to define problems,
collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability
to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in
mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and
concrete variables.LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:Examples
of licenses, certificates, and registrations required:* Drivers
license* OSHA 10/30hr Training (or equivalent)OTHER SKILLS AND
ABILITIES:Specific skills and abilities required that are not
included in other sections:
- Minimum of five to seven years of EHS experience.
- Knowledge of local, state and federal safety compliance and
regulatory issues, including the Occupational Safety and Health
Act.
- Knowledge of principles and procedures and standards of
accounting and budget management.
- Knowledge of human resources practices such as training,
delegation and discipline.
- Knowledge of case management procedures and issues relating to
workmens compensation and other workplace safety issues.
- Ability to multi-task, deal with employees with diverse
background and good problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
Access.
- Use of ADP/Ceridian payroll system.
- Customer service capabilities.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Light typing skills.
- Ability to work indoors in plant/office settings for duration
of shift.#firstinpeople : The pay range for this position is
$86,899 - $128,609 per year.Required
