and more!The Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH) - Minneapolis is looking
for a full-time Campus Facilities-Maintenance/Physical Plant
Director. As Director, you will be responsible for the project
planning, development, and implementation of major project
proposals and directing those projects in the repair, remodel and
new construction activities on the Minnesota Department of Veterans
Affairs' Minneapolis campus.The 52+ acre Minneapolis campus
consists of 15 buildings, approximately 660,000 square feet of
building space, and includes maintenance for all grounds, roads,
parking lots and sidewalks in compliance with state, federal and
other regulatory agencies. The Minneapolis campus is a mix of newer
buildings with an additional set of historic administrative
buildings over 100 years old, which proves to be a challenge in
remodels, upgrades, and repairs.This position will also supervise
the Building Maintenance, Facilities, Grounds, Transportation,
Power Plant, and Housekeeping Departments to ensure and enhance the
appearance, safety, and function of the
campus.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsTo facilitate proper
crediting, please ensure that your resume/application clearly
describes your experience in the areas listed below and indicates
the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only
applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of
these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.
- Four (4) years' experience in facilities management,
construction management or business management, including
developing and managing budgets and financial analysis. At least
two (2) of these 4 years must include experience supervising trades
and maintenance staff; planning and directing major repairs,
remodeling and new construction; and directing the work of
contractors.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Facilities
Management, or a related field can be substituted for 1 year of
experience.
- Working knowledge of State and Federal codes and regulations
such as OSHA, Life Safety, HazMat codes, Fire Marshal orders, ADA
requirements, and MPCA rules and regulations.
- Strong communication skills sufficient to provide oral and
written communications with multiple levels of authority.
- Experience in process improvement.Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Facilities
Management, or a related field.
- Possession of a Minnesota licensure as a Master Electrician,
Master Plumber, or Chief Engineer.
- At least one year of experience supervising staff in a large
multi-building facility.Additional RequirementsThis position also
requires successful completion of the following:A Minnesota
Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be
conducted on finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the
DHS background check.A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest
x-ray) is required prior to employment.Employment reference checks
