This role may be based at our Halifax, PA facility or our Lakeville, MN office.Starting annual salary for this position ranges from $145,000 to $195,000 based on skills, experience, and location of hire.Reporting to the Vice President, Product Innovation, the role of Innovation Laboratory Director is responsible for leading the Fireplace/Stove/Electric Innovation Laboratory within HHT. The goal of this laboratory is to develop and launch products that address the short, medium and long-term needs of the business, and ultimately to grow the business. This position works cross-functionally to help develop product strategy, and roadmaps, and is ultimately responsible for the product development execution.What you will do:

• Lead and manage a team of technical employees in the identification and development of new products.
• Lead cross-functional discussions around product strategy and ownership of new product roadmap creation.
• Lead understanding of key technology trends and capabilities in the hearth space and other relevant industries.
• Active participation in the creation of product strategy development and product roadmap development.
• Lead understanding of regulatory trends impacting the future of the hearth industry.
• Lead intellectual property strategy and landscape assessment for the innovation laboratory.
• Develop, support, and coach technical team members.
• Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science.
  • 10 or more years of professional experience in R&D and/or new product development (or equivalent with advanced degree obtainment plus professional experience).
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in managing technical employees in R&D and/or new product development environment.
  • Vision: Ability to lead cross-functional discussions to drive product strategy and develop product roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated comfort and ability to lead through ambiguity.
  • Communication: excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership: ability to coach and provide feedback to team, to develop and get the best out of their technical team.
  • Change management: ability to lead an organization through change.
  • Consumer focused: help teams to listen to and uncover unmet consumer needs.
  • Business minded: ability to support teams in building a business case and thinking through risks.
