Responsibilities
Work unit test developer/innovator who develops, innovates,
evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies,
technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual
and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3].
Responsible for improvement of existing methods or implementation
of novel technology of proven validity within the work unit.
Organizes new method validation data, prepares data for publication
and peer review, and participates in formal presentations. Actively
partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work
environment and respecting others with different backgrounds,
experiences, and perspectives.--*Individuals hired to this position
are required to complete 2 years in the role before being eligible
to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic*
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical
technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited
institution, or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in
addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing
laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if
applicable. Two years' relevant laboratory experience required. A
HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other
clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and
approved on a case-by-case basis. Master's degree from an
accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical
laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD)
in chemistry or a biological science preferred. Self motivated,
highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently
exercising strong decision-making skills. Excellent written and
verbal communication skills are necessary. Capable of reproducing a
reference method using available procedures without supervision.
Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development
and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures. Experience with
data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of
information. ASCP or other certification pertinent to the
laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory
specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.-- Preference for
exceptional critical thinking skills along with the following
valuable, but not required skills:
Hybrid work model- Work From Home and Onsite; business need
requires employees to live within a reasonable driving distance of
campus.
Weekend Schedule Weekend Schedule not scheduled but may depend on
instrument availability and project.
