Department Overview
Children's Minnesota has the largest Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
(PICU) in Minnesota. In the 30-bed PICU at Children's Minnesota
Minneapolis Campus, our interdisciplinary team of intensivists,
nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, social workers and
other professionals are dedicated to the advanced care of children
with life- threatening critical diagnoses. We specialize in caring
for children with a wide variety of acute and chronic illnesses,
including those with respiratory failure, neurological insults,
complex post-operative recovery from extensive surgery, severe
infections, fluid imbalances and multi-system organ failure.
Children's Minneapolis is an ACS Level I trauma center and our PICU
cares for children who have experienced a wide range of traumatic
events. Many of our patients require assisted ventilation. We also
utilize extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and continuous
renal replacement therapy (CRRT) when needed. Our patient
population requires complex care, including hemodynamic monitoring,
critical medication management, maintenance of systemic perfusion
and management of organ failure. Our team balances a highly
technical skill set with a family-centered approach. We rely on
teamwork, with open and respectful communication, and promote an
environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Our
team is committed to providing excellent care to our patients and
families.
Position Summary
Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants,
children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process.
Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing
functions and delegated medical functions performed in
collaboration with other health team members.
THIS IS AN MNA CONTRACT POSITION.
Education Requirements:
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
* Current Minnesota RN licensure.
* Current BLS certification.
*Current (minimum of 1 year within the last 2 years) PICU
experience which includes the ability to care for: pre-operative
and immediate post-operative PICU surgical patients, Level I trauma
patients (for Mpls only). A informational meeting with the Patient
Care Manager is required prior to awarding the position.
* Based upon the unit in which you are applying, additional
certification(s) may be required. Department specific required
qualifications need to be obtained within 6 months of
employment.
* Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
required or obtained during orientation.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for
medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits.
Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be
eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
